"Outsourcing the department has taken away the administrative headache and with one main firm supplying IT support, GM can continue with its primary business function.
Lisa Gage, a director for a GM group, told Computerworld: "We are in the business of building cars and trucks.
"We shouldn't be spending tons of time trying to manage tons of IT suppliers."
